Introducing us…
Saint Benedict’s, often known as “St Ben’s”, is a Church of England church, along with our sister churches, St John’s in the High Street and St Mary’s in Meare. These three “Abbey Parishes” are independently run churches sharing clergy and resources as part of a “benefice”. Although small in number, we at St Ben’s pride ourselves on being warm and friendly, and all are welcome at our services.
Soup Lunch
Every Thursday from 12 noon we offer a soup lunch which is free to everyone. If you’re able and willing to help with this ministry you should let Liz Pearson know by emailing meig@stbens-glastonbury.uk or putting your contact details into an envelope addressed to her and popping it through the letter box on the north east door of the church (the one on the corner opposite what was The Mitre).
Open Church
Our church is now open for visitors daily (except Sundays) from 10am until 4pm except when the church is in use (see our church diary page). Everyone is welcome to come in for a time of quiet.
Inclusive Church
We are in the Inclusive Church network. We therefore affirm that we do not discriminate, on any level, on grounds of economic power, gender, mental health, physical ability, race or sexuality. We welcome and serve all people in the name of Jesus Christ. We believe in Church which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.
As part of our commitment to being inclusive, we offer Prayers of Love and Faith for same-sex couples. Please click/tap this link for more details.
